Calais Campbell Says Lamar Jackson 'Wants To Get A Deal Done' With Ravens

Rumors Lamar Jackson's demand for a fully guaranteed contract, if true, seem to indicate he's handcuffing the Ravens to demand a trade. Other rumors say he's willing to sit out the entire season rather than play under any franchise tag.

As the Lamar Jackson vs. Baltimore Ravens saga continues, there is speculation regarding Jackson's desire to remain with the organization that drafted him back in 2018.

Rumors of his demand for a fully guaranteed contract - some say upward of $200 million dollars - if true, seem to indicate he's handcuffing the Ravens to demand a trade. Other rumors say he's willing to sit out the entire season rather than play under any franchise tag.

But Jackson's teammate, DL Calais Campbell thinks otherwise, and he's very adamant about his quarterback's desire to remain with the Ravens.

“He wants to get a deal done, and that’s the most important part,” Campbell told NFL Network. “Sometimes guys who are part of a team and don’t want to be there anymore, use [free agency] as an opportunity to go elsewhere. But he wants to be [with the Ravens].”

ESPN seemed to double down on their speculation that Jackson wants a fully guaranteed contract, something the Ravens and most clubs should be reluctant to offer to anyone.

Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta stated at the NFL Scouting Combine this week that he is "hopeful" that the Ravens and Jackson - who serves as his own agent - can come to a long-term deal before Tuesday's deadline.

But the closer we get to that deadline, it seems more and more like the Ravens will have to use one of the available franchise tags on Jackson.

DeCosta said the Ravens have not decided whether they’ll use the exclusive or non-exclusive franchise tag for Jackson
