Lamar Jackson's Contract Dispute With Ravens 'Complicated' NFL Schedule Release

With the NFL schedule officially released, it was revealed how Lamar Jackson's contract impacted the reveal.

Following the release of the 2023 NFL schedule on Thursday there have been plenty of articles analyzing each team to predict just how well or poorly they will play this season.

After all, when we are still months away from real action again on Sunday's, it makes sense. However, while the schedule has been released, it was revealed in a tweet from senior NFL reporter Jori Epstein that both Aaron Rodgers and Lamar Jackson "complicated the decisions" for the schedule makers.

"On conference call right now, NFL schedule makers confirm Aaron Rodgers, Lamar Jackson uncertainty complicated decisions. Jets to play 5 primetime games, Ravens 4. We were frankly lucky, fortunate ... that those planes landed before draft," VP broadcast planning Mike North said.

Ultimately Rodgers was traded from the Green Bay Packers to the New York Jets, while Jackson stayed with the Baltimore Ravens after signing a record-breaking contract.

It isn't hard to see why the schedule makers were waiting with bated breath regarding both of their situations, as Rodgers and Jackson are two of the NFL's premier stars at the quarterback position. Wherever they ended up would likely get more primetime games as a result.

Now, Jackson and the Ravens have four primetime games and are looking to challenge the Cincinnati Bengals for the AFC North crown. Doing so won't be easy, of course, especially with the schedule the Ravens have - but keeping Jackson in Baltimore will go a long way in their pursuit of a division title.
