Baltimore Ravens Lamar Jackson is 'Dangerous' Says Detroit Lions Coach Dan Campbell
Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell compared trying to prepare for Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson to "coming out of a nightmare" ahead of their Week 7 matchup.
"If I was dreaming about how to stop these guys, he'd be the first one I would think of if I was coming out of a nightmare," Campbell said. "He is dangerous. He is dangerous. They don’t ask him to do as much as he did before with his legs, but there’s plenty of it still in there, and he’s throwing it pretty good. They’ve made a concerted effort to do a little more dropback with him, and he is, he is throwing the ball well. And he's got guys that are making plays for him. But if it's not there, he'll take off and he gets up the middle, he gets to the edge and he's gonna hurt you."
Jackson has been playing at an MVP-caliber level to start the season, performing week after week. He has recorded 1,253 passing yards and five passing touchdowns at a 69.9% completion rate while adding 327 yards and four touchdowns with his legs.
Heading into Week 7, Jackson was PFF's second-highest graded quarterback with a grade of 88.7. The Lions won't just be a walk in the park for the Ravens though, as the highest-graded quarterback through six weeks is Detroit's Jared Goff with a grade of 90.4.
Baltimore has only ever faced off against the Lions once during Jackson and Campbell's respective tenures, in Week 4 of the 2021 season, a game that would not be remembered for its quarterback play. The Ravens won 19-17 on a NFL-record 66-yard field goal as time expired from future Hall of Famer Justin Tucker.
Jackson will attempt to give Campbell a few more nightmares when the two face off on Oct. 22 at 1 p.m. from M&T Bank Stadium.
