Lamar Jackson, Ravens 'A Lock' For Win vs. Texans, Says FS1 Analyst
Baltimore Ravens football is upon us, and we will get the first glimpse of Todd Monken's offense with Lamar Jackson at the helm.
With an abundance of weapons that includes Odell Beckham Jr., Mark Andrews, and Zay Flowers, many think the Ravens have one of, if not the most explosive offenses in the NFL.
Of course, that is just on paper. We have to see it in real NFL action. That comes Sunday against the Houston Texans. Baltimore will no doubt start as favorites, and FS1's c Acho has named the Ravens as a "Lock" for Week 1.
“Lamar Jackson, he’s got to be a lock,” Acho said on FS1's Speak. “I mean, CJ Stroud is the quarterback for the Texans, he has the least amount of experience of any rookie in the preseason. He played the least amount of all the rookie quarterbacks. So that’s a lock for the Ravens.”
With Baltimore having one of the best defenses in football, the consensus is that Mike Macdonald's unit will make life very tough for Stroud in his NFL debut. We then add to that a Ravens offense that, with Jackson leading, was 8-4 last season and has gotten stronger, can Houston score enough points to win the game?
Naturally, there will be some growing pains as Baltimore is transitioning away from Greg Romans' run-heavy offense to Monken's vertical style, but the Ravens should still put up enough points to win.
Given how unpredictable the NFL can be from week to week, calling Baltimore a lock is a little dangerous, but we can see why Acho has picked them.
They are at home, have shiny new weapons, and an air of confidence is floating around the organization.
Now, the time has come to put it all together...but are the Ravens a "lock" to win? Fans sure hope so.
