Ravens’ Lamar Jackson: On Move To NFL History?
Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson, thanks to his new five-year, $260 million contract, has plenty of time to continue making his NFL mark.
But Jackson - due in part to his dynamite talent but maybe also aided by a new offensive system - could make a giant leap in the NFL’s record books … and he could do it this season.
Jackson, zzzzz, needs only 492 rushing yards to surpass Randall Cunningham for No. 4 on the all-time quarterback rushing yards list.
And lest the Ravens star’s accomplishments get lost in the back of the filing cabinet, we should note that he is currently fifth all-time with 4,437 yards after jumping past Steve Young last season.
Among the sidebars here: about Lamar’s climb has come at a ridiculous pace. It has taken Jackson just 70 games to get to where he is, while the talented Cunningham and Young needed 161 and 169 games, respectively.
New offensive coordinator Todd Monken is installing an attack with more of an aerial theme. Jackson is pleased with that, as are, we’re sure, targets like Odell Beckham, Mark Andrews, Zay Flowers, Rashod Bateman and Nelson Agholor.
But the fully-explored Ravens must also include Lamar on the run … as opponents chase him while he chases the record books.
