Ravens 'Tough Look' For Locker Room Over Lamar Jackson Contract Situation?
Lamar Jackson and his contract negotiations with the Baltimore Ravens appear to be at a standstill. After over two years of talks, the Ravens are far from securing Jackson to a long-term deal.
With all the media bashing that Baltimore has endured for its unwillingness to pay Jackson what he wants, NFL analyst Dan Orlovsky has floated another interesting dynamic.
The locker room feel.
"It's a tough look in your locker room," Orlovsky said on The Pat McAfee Show.
"Could you imagine that locker room? He's taken 1000 hits for us at the quarterback spot, but that's why I don't get it. I saw people this last week come up and be like what are we doing, fans of Baltimore, what are we doing with Lamar? I said I don't know."
That is something that many haven't thought about ... until now.
With Ravens players seeing what Jackson has done for the organization since being drafted, including going 45-16 as a starter, winning the NFL MVP award, and slowly making his mark in the postseason (1-3 record), the Ravens still seem hesitant to pay him the going rate.
Would this irk the Baltimore locker room? Who sees what Jackson has put himself through as a quarterback and runner?
Possibly.
But if it did, the Baltimore Ravens could have a real problem on their hands and one that should have been easily avoided years ago, even if Lamar is his own agent.
The contract situation still has a long way to go, and the Ravens could lose Lamar Jackson as a result...but they wouldn't want to lose the locker room either.
