Anthony Richardson Scheduled To Meet With Ravens

Is this an indication that the team is willing to move on from Jackson? Or is Baltimore simply using the visit as a negotiating tool with their free agent signal caller?
In this story:

Reports emerged on Monday that former Florida quarterback Anthony Richardson will meet with a number of teams this week, including the Baltimore Ravens on Friday.

The inclusion of the Ravens on the list of teams Richardson will meet with is interesting, given the current situation between Baltimore and quarterback Lamar Jackson.

Is this an indication that the team is willing to move on from Jackson? Or is Baltimore simply using the visit as a negotiating tool with their free agent signal caller?

The Ravens currently hold the No. 22 pick, which means they'd most likely have to move up in the first round in order to select Richardson.

Other teams being linked to Richardson via meetings this week are the Colts, Falcons, and Titans.

The Falcons announced early in the offseason that they would not pursue Jackson as a trade target as they prepare to let Desmond Ridder lead the team, but a meeting with Richardson may change their mind.

NFL teams are only allowed 30 visits from possible draftees. A team wouldn't waste a visit on someone if they're not seriously considering him.

And at this point, the Ravens need to start considering a contingency plan for Jackson, who has not signed his franchise tag and could still be targeted by another team this offseason.

If not, he could choose to sit out the 2023 season or play out the year under the tag before trying to move on in 2024.
