'Something You Want To Embrace!' Ex-Ravens Coach Mike Macdonald Not Afraid Of Pete Carroll's Legacy In Seattle
Former Baltimore Ravens defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald was responsible for building one of the most feared defenses in the league over the past two seasons in Charm City. And he was rewarded with an opportunity to take over for a legend in Seattle as he replaced Pete Carroll as head coach of the Seahawks.
Carroll coached the Seahawks for 14 seasons and made 10 playoff appearances, two Super Bowls and one championship.
But none of that intimidates Macdonald - who is a first-time head coach at any level - as he appeared on Seattle Sports 710 Tuesday.
"I'm not intimidated by that," Macdonald said of succeeding Carroll. "It's not something that I'm worried about, it's something that you want to embrace."
Macdonald continued, saying instead of shying away from Carroll's legacy, the team should build around it.

"I think we're just gonna go with the mentality of, hey, let's do what's best for the Seahawks and the guys that we have and where we want to go, kind of the remnants of coach Carroll's legacy here," Macdonald said. "We're not trying to shy away, we want to be around that, we want to build around that."
Seahawks fans should embrace Macdonald as well, as he appears ready to win next year.
