Baltimore Ravens Add Key Roster Pieces In NFL.com's Latest Mock Draft
The Baltimore Ravens have a number of important roster holes to fill this offseason. After almost a month of free agency, general manager Eric DeCosta is dealing with more losses than gains, and he'll have to turn his attention to this month's NFL Draft to fill some of those holes and add depth to key positions.
With departures across the offensive line as Kevin Zeitler and John Simpson signed free agent contracts elsewhere, and Morgan Moses lost via trade, protection for quarterback Lamar Jackson will be important to replace.
NFL.com offered its latest five-round mock draft, and the Ravens pay special attention to the front line. The commentary is from NFL.com's Draft and Combine Profile.
Round 1, Pick 30: Baltimore Ravens - Tyler Guyton, OT, Oklahoma Sooners
Baltimore's patience in past drafts has resulted in it finding excellent value late in each round. Guyton would be a perfect Ravens pick in that way, and he meets a need after the Morgan Moses trade and the inconsistent availability of veteran Ronnie Stanley.
Round 2, Pick 62: Baltimore Ravens - Jaylen Wright, RB, Tennessee Volunteers
Explosive back with good size and breakaway speed. Wright’s running style is more linear than free-flowing, which limits his cut smoothness and elusiveness on the second level. His vision and aggression as an interior runner are just average, but that won’t stop him from putting yards on the stat sheet.
Round 3, Pick 93: Baltimore Ravens - Keon Coleman, WR, Florida State Seminoles
Above-the-rim artist with circus catches resembling a scene from the tents of Cirque du Soleil. Coleman has excellent size and ball skills. He’s not sudden and doesn’t have great speed, so beating press and creating breathing room against tight man coverages will depend on his ability to improve as a route-runner.
Round 4, Pick 113 (From NYJ): Baltimore Ravens - Christian Haynes, OG, UConn Huskies
Four-year starter and team captain who is sturdy at the point of attack. Haynes plays with football intelligence and sees every snap as a mandate to move opponents and finish blocks. His draft slotting could be affected by a lack of length and being limited to one position, but his determined playing style counters those factors.
Round 4, Pick 130: Baltimore Ravens - Dadrion Taylor-Demerson, S, Texas Tech Red Raiders
Taylor-Demerson might not have the highly coveted measurables that teams will gravitate toward, but he brings plenty of instincts and ball skills. He offers coverage versatility as a split safety, high safety and nickel. He’s quick enough to handle man coverage and plays with outstanding anticipation to steal from quarterbacks who show their cards.
Round 5, Pick 165: Baltimore Ravens - Xavier Thomas, EDGE, Clemson Tigers
Edge defender who plays with good technique and unwavering energy. Thomas will get widened out at the point of attack or knocked out of his gap by power, but his first-step quickness gives him the ability to disrupt from the back side or when playing in the gaps.
