Ravens President Sashi Brown Offers Timeline For M&T Bank Stadium Renovations
The house that Ray Lewis built is set to become the dwelling Justin Tucker remodeled.
Speaking at the NFL Owners Meeting in Phoenix, Baltimore Ravens president Sashi Brown offered an update on the proposed renovations to the team's home of M&T Bank Stadium. Baltimore re-upped its lease with its 70,745-seat dwelling through 2037 in January.
With the team poised to look a little different on the field ... namely under center as the Lamar Jackson saga continues ... Brown implied it won't be long until the stadium gets a makeover as well.
"We're in the process of selecting an architect for final designs and a construction manager," Brown said on the team's official site. "Realistically, with lead times as well, we're looking at the 2024 season before we start to see some significant changes to the stadium.
"In '24 and '25 you'll start to see some big changes and we're excited about it. We really want to make sure that we're creating a modern gameday experience. With all the things that we've learned in our two decades plus that we have been here, we can really accentuate and lift out gameday (experience). We're confident we can do that."
M&T Bank Stadium has served as the home of the Ravens since 1998. In that span, Baltimore has posted a 141-60 regular season record at home, the third-best winning percentage (.701) in the NFL behind New England and Green Bay.
In addition to the AFC North trio, the Ravens will have the extra home game this time around as Detroit, Houston, Indianapolis, Miami, Seattle, and the Los Angeles Rams all come to visit.
Brown also provided a nominal update on the possibility of the Ravens going overseas at some point during the 2023-24 season, as two of their road opponents (Jacksonville and Tennessee) are set to host games in London.
Baltimore has not played beyond American soil since a prior trip to London to face the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2017.
"We don't have any indication yet as to whether we'll be there," Brown said. "The scene in Munich last year was fantastic. It's exciting to be able to bring the game overseas and have that much passion around it.
"The reality is, with the increasing number of games that the NFL is going to be hosting overseas, our number is going to be called more often than perhaps anticipated seven or eight years ago."
