'It Was A Crazy Thing!' Ravens WR Odell Beckham Jr. Played For The Rams With No ACL
The Baltimore Ravens have upgraded the wideout position dramatically in the last couple of weeks, mainly with the addition of wideout Odell Beckham Jr.
Beckham hasn't played football since he went down in the Super Bowl while playing for the Rams in February of 2022, just over one calendar year ago.
Beckham went down with an apparent knee injury during that game, and it was reported he tore an ACL.
But did he?
With already one ACL tear on his record while with the Browns the year before, the Rams were most likely careful before signing him to make sure he was healthy.
On Friday, Beckham dropped a bombshell.
“That whole season I was playing without it,” Beckham said. “It was a crazy thing. I signed with the L.A. Rams, and I remember ElAttrache comes down there and he’s like, ‘I’ve just got to inform you that you don’t have an ACL. You know, we can redo your surgery right now.’ And this was Week Nine of the season."
Beckham could've had surgery to fix it ... again ... after signing with the Rams. But he chose not to.
“And I just told him, I was like, ‘I’ve been through way too much to come here and sign. There was way too much talk on my name. You know, the past year, like I came here to win a championship.’ And I told him I’d die on the sword.”
The Rams and Beckham weren't surprised when he finally fell on that proverbial sword against the Bengals on Super Bowl Sunday.
The question is if the Rams hiding his injury was a violation of NFL rules. But since he received no treatment for it and never missed practices because of it, the league probably won't have an issue with it. Tom Brady played with a fully torn MCL in 2020 without the Bucs saying a word.
But now Beckham Jr. is ready to roll in his next NFL chapter, with the Ravens. He's fully healthy and Baltimore hopes he's back to his Pro Bowl form.
