Ravens Odell Beckham Jr. Injury Update: 'I Could Take Off Running!'
Baltimore Ravens receiver Odell Beckham Jr. has gotten in his first work with his new team...and he's feeling good.
After suffering yet another ACL injury in the Los Angeles Rams Super Bowl win in 2021, Beckham Jr. is finally starting to feel like himself.
"I feel good," Beckham Jr. said. "It feels good to get out of bed and not feel pain. I feel like if I needed to take off running right now, I could take off running."
While naturally, the progression with OBJ will be a slow burn as the Ravens' medical team will no doubt be cautious with the receiver's workload, it is a good sign that the receiver is present and undertaking work this offseason.
Learning yet another new offensive system can be challenging, but for Beckham Jr., it is all about getting ready to hit the ground running come Week 1.
"The most important thing is getting ready for the season in September, that's when we play," Beckham said. "I don't have a set play amount, a number that's in my head. You come here, you get your reps, you talk."
Minicamp will help ease Beckham Jr. into Todd Monken's new vertical style of offense, which will undoubtedly help bring out the best in the three-time Pro Bowl receiver.
Beckham Jr. has a full workload this offseason with a host of new plays to learn and teammates to get acquainted with. There will be a break of around five weeks from when the Ravens finish minicamp and begin training camp, which is ample time to rest up and get ready for the "real stuff."
But for Beckham Jr., that time off will be spent getting to know his new quarterback, Lamar Jackson.
"I know I'll be down in Florida training with him," Beckham said. "We've been talking about it all offseason. He's one of the reasons I signed here. I don't know who's faster. He's one of the most electrifying players I've seen at that position. He just has that 'it' to him."
It might be early in the offseason, but Beckham Jr. is slowly making strides to be ready for the new season.
Things have gotten off to a good start, and if he can remain healthy, he will quickly become one of Jackson's most dangerous weapons.
