OBJ BREAKING: Free Agent Shows Up Here at Biltmore to Talk to Ravens
PHOENIX - The Baltimore Ravens are in dire need of upgrades at the wide receiver position. Even as quarterback Lamar Jackson has been franchise tagged, putting those two sides in dispute, a next step is to address who will catch passes (from somebody) in Baltimore.
Enter OBJ, the Arizona resident who just showed up here at the Biltmore in Phoenix, site of the NFL owners meetings.
Per CBS’ Josina Anderson, OBJ arrived here in the noon hour to visit with the Ravens (and maybe other teams).
Last season, former Giants, Browns and Rams wideout Beckham Jr. was courted by the likes of the Cowboys, Giants, Bills and Ravens, but was not yet healthy enough to workout or play.
Beckham was injured in the Rams' Super Bowl victory over the Bengals one year ago last month, tearing his ACL for the second time in as many seasons. Still recovering into the last NFL season, Beckham waited for offers that didn't come. Mainly because he wouldn't work out for any of the interested parties.
Recently, Beckham worked out in Arizona for an audience of NFL teams, including the Baltimore Ravens.
Baltimore representatives have yet to comment on any details of the workout, but the fact that they attended should be an indication that they're exploring all options to improve the position.
And this meeting is another indication.
Beckham is eligible to sign with any team at any time, having become a free agent in March 2022.
At one time, Beckham, 30, was seeking a $20 million APY deal and a "long-term home.'' That rumored number moved to $13 million APY at the end of the year.
And now? OBJ - who last played in 2021 and who hasn't had a 1,000-yard season since - 2019 will be working out in pursuit of a big deal ... and a big return to the NFL.
