Ravens WRs Odell Beckham Jr. & Zay Flowers: Lamar Jackson Leads NFL's Most Explosive Offense?
A week can be a long time in professional sports, and for the Baltimore Ravens, a week ago must seem like a lifetime. After the Odell Beckham Jr. signing, many expected Lamar Jackson's signature to follow rather quickly ... it didn't.
But just prior to the NFL Draft, news broke of Lamar's five-year deal. A collective sigh of relief could be heard from Ravens fans. And while that was good news, it didn't stop there.
In the first round of the draft, Baltimore added a serious weapon for Jackson in the form of speedster Zay Flowers. His final season in college produced his best output, notching his first 1,000+ yard year, and he totaled 12 touchdowns for good measure.
New Ravens offensive coordinator Todd Monken will no doubt utilize that type of production.
So, after the cupboard being bare with no offensive weapons aside from tight end Mark Andrews, in the space of a month, Baltimore has added Beckham Jr., re-signed Lamar, and drafted Flowers. Things are looking up.
We saw how Odell was playing before his ACL injury in the Los Angeles Rams' Super Bowl win over the Cincinnati Bengals, and if the All-Pro receiver can get somewhere near that production, Baltimore will be very pleased.
The same can be said for Flowers, who took his game up a level for Boston College last season. None of Baltimore's wide receivers surpassed 500 yards last year, as the tight end Andrews (847 yards) was the only one to get past the mark.
With Odell and now Flowers, coupled with Andrews and a run game that is traditionally the envy of the entire NFL, Baltimore has gone from being an in-limbo outfit in the NFL next season due to a lack of weapons and Lamar's future, to now having one of the most explosive offenses in the league (on paper) led by Jackson.
What a difference a week has made for the Baltimore Ravens.
