Baltimore Ravens 'Public Enemy No. 1' is Bengals' Logan Wilson: ‘Was Mark Andrews Tackle Necessary?’
Thursday night's game against the Cincinnati Bengals may have been the scene of a serious blow to the Super Bowl hopes of the Baltimore Ravens.
How can that be when the Ravens registered an important 34-20 Week 11 “Monday Night Football” win over their division rivals?
Because, in the eyes of some, Bengals linebacker Logan Wilson made it so.
The Ravens lost All-Pro tight end Mark Andrews for the season to an ankle injury sustained on the game’s opening drive when after catching a pass just a few yards short of the goal line, Andrews was “hip-drop-tackled” from behind by Wilson.
“It was definitely a hip-drop tackle,” Baltimore coach Harbaugh said, citing a tactic that is legal but also arguably dirty. “It is being discussed. It’s a tough tackle. Was it even necessary in that situation?”
The not-too-subtle suggestion from an unhappy Harbaugh? Wilson using the controversial move was not necessary. … but down Andrews went, being towed down from behind in a manner that led to Andrews’ lower left leg getting caught and pressured under the weight of Wilson’s body.
Harbaugh also noted that Wilson used the same technique to take down QB Lamar Jackson near the sideline, and indicated that the Ravens will be sending those plays into the league office.
“The other one on the sideline,” he said, “there’s always plays that you send into the league to have them look at and interpret for you.”

As the NFL continues to consider banning the hip-drop tackle, the 8-3 Ravens will play on toward the postseason fortunate that MVP candidate Jackson survived the hit and will continue playing. … but unfortunately will do it without the services of a performer in Mark Andrews who might be the Ravens’ best player …
All of it means that Bengals linebacker Logan Wilson is now Public Enemy No. 1 in Baltimore.
