Lamar Jackson 'Only Person' Who Can Steal Patrick Mahomes Crown in 2023?
Lamar Jackson's five seasons for the Baltimore Ravens have raised question marks about his NFL future. But he's also a former league MVP and two-time Pro Bowler.
His resume is so stacked, that FS1 has named Lamar as the only candidate who could overthrow Chiefs star Patrick Mahomes as the NFL's best signal caller in 2023.
"You need to have equity to do it," FS1 said. "Lamar Jackson has already proven himself to be a unanimous league MVP, something that even Mahomes hasn't done."
Yep. The Ravens are just three seasons removed from Lamar being considered a revolutionary in the game, winning an MVP as the undisputed best in the NFL during his sophomore campaign.
"So if he has a dream season, two regular-season MVPs, then a Super Bowl and a Super Bowl MVP, he would still be shy of a Super Bowl and the Super Bowl MVP, but at least an argument can be had," FS1 concluded.
And maybe there's a case here. ... or maybe not. The numbers shouldn't lie to us, right? In Lamar's five years, he has 12,209 passing yards, 4,437 rushing yards and 125 total touchdowns, boasting one MVP.
In Mahomes' six years, he has 24,241 passing yards, 1,547 rushing yards and 204 combined touchdowns, with two MVPs and two Super Bowl rings.
Sure, one has played a year longer than the other and Lamar has battled injuries, but let's be realistic. Those numbers aren't exactly close.
Maybe Lamar passes for 10,000 yards and 100 touchdowns this season to catch up, but this race isn't tight until then... unless you ask FS1, that is.
