Baltimore Ravens QB Lamar Jackson Could Add to his NFL MVP Case vs. Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday Night Football
Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson is in the middle of a competitive NFL MVP race as we enter Sunday's slate of games in Week 15.
Jackson, who won the 2019 League MVP award can add to his resume with a strong showing in prime time against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday Night Football. In Week 14 against the Rams, Jackson "played one of the best QB games yesterday you can play all in all," according to coach John Harbaugh.
Against the Rams, Jackson completed 24 of 43 passes for 316 yards and three touchdowns to one interception in the thrilling 37-31 overtime win.
On Sunday night, the 26-year-old has a chance to stay hot against a secondary that is allowing the second-most passing yards per game with 265.2 this year. The 2016 Heisman Trophy winner has thrown for 3,578 yards and 21 touchdowns in a season that has the Ravens on top in the AFC and poised for a Super Bowl run. But Jackson knows another MVP isn't the ultimate goal.
"It's an honor ... just being in that MVP conversation with great guys," Jackson said. "I'm just staying locked in. I'm trying to win. I want another championship."
After Saturday's Slate of Games, Ravens' Path to Clinch a Playoff Spot is Simple
The Ravens have four games left on the 2023 schedule and hold the No. 1 seed in the AFC playoff picture. Baltimore can clinch a spot with a victory in Jacksonville on Sunday night but will need to continue to win to keep the top seed and enjoy a first-round bye.
The Ravens match up with the Dolphins - who currently hold the No. 2 seed in the AFC standings - in Week 17 and that could help decide who ultimately gets the top spot.
