Ravens LB Roquan Smith Among NFL's Top Defensive 'Difference-Makers'
Baltimore Ravens linebacker Roquan Smith is used to making an instant impact.
In his rookie year, the former first-round pick led the Chicago Bears in solo (89) and total tackles (121), while ranking third in sacks (five) and fourth in tackles for loss (eight).
By the age of 24, Smith was already named to the NFL's All-Pro second team twice after going back-to-back in 2020-2021.
And this stayed true when he was dealt to Baltimore midway through last season, notching 86 tackles, seven tackles for loss and an interception, while also receiving his first career first-team All-Pro honors.
Now entering his first full season for the Ravens, Smith has the opportunity to be an even greater defensive difference-maker.
"Smith was already a top-shelf linebacker with the Bears, but he played with added menace upon his midseason trade to Baltimore, quickly taking over as the heart and soul of the defense," CBS Sports writes. "Still just 26, he should be even more comfortable with his teammates this time around. If he even comes close to replicating his debut impact, he'll help Baltimore back to the playoffs."
Smith has already stated how "sweet" it's going to be getting a full offseason of training camp and preseason in Baltimore, even spending time with Hall of Fame linebacker Ray Lewis.
But if the first five years of Smith's career is any indication, there could be something special brewing for this Ravens defense.
