'Hit You In The Mouth Every Play!' Ravens LB Patrick Queen On Baltimore's Defense
The Ravens embarrassed the 49ers on Monday night with one of the better defensive showings of the season. San Francisco is one of the top offenses in the NFL in almost every important statistical category, and starting quarterback Brock Purdy - a league MVP candidate - had thrown just seven interceptions all season.
But on Christmas Night, Baltimore stuffed Purdy's stocking with 4 lumps of coal - in the form of four interceptions.
“We play a brand of football that people don’t want to play,” Queen said, via the team’s website. “Everybody wants to be out here being cute, playing basketball on grass and stuff, and we [are not] with all that. You can do all that stuff; we’re just going to hit you in the mouth every play, honestly. We couldn’t care less about all the pretty stuff you do, gimmick stuff. You still have to line up and play football. You still have to get touched, so that’s our mindset. That’s how we want to come out and just hit people in the mouth.”

Queen registered an important play against the Niners offense when he intercepted Purdy to set up quarterback Lamar Jackson's second score of the third quarter, making the score 33-12 and virtually icing the game.
Next week the Ravens face Miami, an equally potent offense, and the Ravens will have to once again employ the tactic of "coming out and hitting them in the mouth on every play."
