Baltimore Ravens Lose Another Free Agent, Rock Ya-Sin Signs With San Francisco 49ers
Free agency has literally been unlucky for the Baltimore Ravens this offseason.
Rock Ya-Sin has become the 13th former Raven to find a new home, as he signed with the San Francisco 49ers on Thursday for one season, as announced by his new squad. Thus ends Ya-Sin's one-term in Charm City and he's the latest to find a new deal on the market after a run to the AFC title game.
Ya-Sin, who entered the league as Indianapolis' second-round pick in 2019, previously signed a one-year deal woth $6 million with the Ravens and appeared in 14 games (1 start). He split his time as a secondary and special teams reserve, picking up 13 tackles. San Francisco is his fourth NFL stop, as he spent the 2022 season with the Las Vegas Raiders.
Now settled in San Francisco, Ya-Sin is set to potentially battle third-year man Samuel Womback for the reserve cornerback spot behind Ambry Thomas. Ya-Sin played 12 special teams snaps when the teams did battle on Christmas Day in Santa Clar last December.
While Baltimore has taken a bit of a beating on the free agent front (the signing of Derrick Henry countered by losing Jadeveon Clowney, Gus Edwards, Patrick Queen, and another secondary man in Geno Stone), they had managed to keep their secondary depth mostly in tact.
While Ya-Sin is heading west and Stone signed with rival Cincinnati, the Ravens did welcome back Arthur Maulet on a two-year, $4 million deal, as well as safety and restricted free agent Ar'Darius Washington. Ya-Sin's departure could also lead to a potential promotion for Damarion Williams, a third-year fourth-round pick behind starter Brandon Stephens.
