Baltimore Ravens Sign WR Deonte Harty
The Baltimore Ravens have seemingly replaced the departed Devin Duvernay.
Duvernay served as the team's primary punt returner, and signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars earlier this offseason.
On Wednesday, the Ravens announced the signing of Deonte Harty to replace Duvernay. He could also serve as depth in the wide receivers room.
The 26-year-old spent all of last season with the Bills, where he served as their primary punt returner, averaging 12.4 yards across 26 returns, including a 96-yarder for a touchdown. Harty was an All-Pro returner for the New Orleans Saints in 2019, averaging 9.4 yards per return and 26.8 yards per kick return that year.
For his career, he's averaged 10.4 yards per punt return and 25.2 yards per kick return.
In 2023, Harty caught 15 passes for 150 yards and one touchdown, while over his career, he's tallied 79 catches for 943 yards and five touchdowns over 56 games.
Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta mentioned on Tuesday that he wasn't worried about roster losses quite yet and that the team was basically in the same spot they were last year at this time.
“We’re in the same place as we were last year at this time. Go back and look at what some of you wrote last year and see how we ended up. We have a lot of time to make moves,” DeCosta said when asked whether the Ravens are in a state of “reloading” or “retooling” given the roster turnover. “A lot of these players that we lost are excellent players.
"A lot of these guys were acquired in August, right? Some of these guys were acquired in September, so we’re still building, and a big part of that is going to be through the draft, which is why we’re all here today.”
