OWINGS MILLS, Md. — Ravens safety Kyle Hamilton had growing pains as a rookie.

It took some time to adjust to the speed and physicality of the NFL.

With each game, though, Hamilton played better and now he is looking to build off a season where he was named to the Pro Football Writers of America's 2022-2023 All-Rookie team.

“It’s a long rookie year," said Hamilton, who was selected by the Ravens in the first round (14th overall) of the 2022 NFL Draft. "You come in the draft process and don’t really know who you’re going to be with, but I think I came into the perfect situation. Staff, players, personnel – everybody has just been amazing to me this year, and I’m really thankful for the whole organization.”

Hamilton appeared in 16 games (one start), registering 55 tackles, two sacks, five passes defensed, and one forced fumble. He led the special teams unit with seven tackles.

In the Wild Card game against the Bengals, Hamilton had a team-high nine tackles (five solo) and one forced fumble that he recovered. He became the first player in Ravens history to record at least one forced fumble and one fumble recovery in a playoff debut, helping hold the Bengals to 234 total yards

"We’re at the highest level in our profession and being a new guy – I’m basically the youngest guy on the team – it took a little while to just kind of settle in and remember who I am and what I can do out there," he said. "And I think once I figured that out, guys on the team, coaches, everybody just staying confident in me and instilling confidence in me on a weekly basis just helped me out a lot.”

Hamilton was most comfortable in the slot position and he continued to thrive in that role.

That could be his main responsibility next year, and he'll embrace that opportunity.

"If that is the case, then wherever they need me at, I’m willing to play," Hamilton said. "So, on my part, I’m open to everything and anything.”
