Baltimore Ravens TE Mark Andrews Likely Out for Season After Injury vs. Cincinnati Bengals on Thursday Night Football

Ravens tight end Mark Andrews suffered an ankle injury on Baltimore's first drive of the game that set up the game's first touchdown.

Baltimore standout tight end Mark Andrews helped set up the Ravens' first score of the game on a short nine-yard reception to the Bengals' four-yard line. It might be his last catch of the year.

Cincinnati linebacker Logan Wilson brought down Andrews with a hip-drop tackle, that some feel is just as dangerous as the now-banned horse-collar tackle - it's just not yet illegal. Andrews didn't get up and immediately began writhing in pain while lying on the field. Players and officials immediately ran to his aid.

He was able to walk off the field without aid - albeit gingerly - but was seen on crutches heading to the locker room for X-rays.

Andrews did not return.

Wilson was involved in another controversial tackle later in the game that appeared to injure Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson. Wilson pulled Jackson down from behind, essentially falling on his legs, just as he did with Andrews. There was not a flag on either play. Jackson was noticeably hobbled afterward, limping to the huddle and at other times throughout the game.

Before leaving the game early, Andrews had two catches for 23 yards, adding to his season total of 43 receptions for 521 yards and six touchdowns.

Ravens head coach John Harbaugh made the announcement after the game that Andrews had suffered "a serious ankle injury" that was likely "season-ending." Andrews had been a key part of the new Todd Monken Baltimore offense as one of Lamar Jackson's favorite targets - as years passed.

Andrews came to Baltimore as the No. 86 overall draft choice in 2018 and has spent his entire career as a Raven.
