Ravens' Roquan Smith Named To NFL Top 100
Baltimore Ravens linebacker Roquan Smith was named to the NFL Top 100 Players List on Wednesday for the second time in his career. Players around the league voted Smith as the No. 24 player in the league entering the 2023 season.
Smith previously made the list in 2022 at No. 84 and made a significant jump in the rankings this year after the Ravens acquired the 26-year-old via a midseason trade last season from the Chicago Bears. Smith is the fourth Raven to make the players list in 2023, joining cornerback Marlon Humphrey (No. 92), tight end Mark Andrews (No. 80), and quarterback Lamar Jackson (No. 72).
The NFL Top 100 is a list voted on by the players, for the players. It gives players around the league an opportunity to rank their peers and offer praise wherever they think it belongs.
Smith moved up 60 spots in the newest players list after recording 103 solo tackles, 11 tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks, three interceptions, and six pass breakups for both the Bears and Ravens in 2022.
Smith is in the middle of his first training camp with Baltimore, but the former Georgia Bulldog has already cemented himself as a leader on the Ravens' defense and has been vocal about his expectations for the unit in 2023.
If fellow Baltimore linebacker Patrick Queen takes the next step this season in a contract year, the Ravens could end up with one of the best linebacker duos in the league.
