Ravens Trade Idea: Get Commanders DE Chase Young?

A trade for Washington Commanders defensive end Chase Young could give the Baltimore Ravens pass rush a boost.
In this story:

The Baltimore Ravens are hoping their pass rush can be better than it was a year ago.

Despite finishing fifth in the league in sacks with 48, the Ravens look different at that spot than it did in 2022.

"The team just extended defensive tackle Broderick Washington to help solidify the interior of its defensive line, but edge rusher is a weakness, with Tyus Bowser, Odafe Oweh and David Ojabo at the top of Baltimore's depth chart," ESPN writes.

Calais Campbell is gone after signing with the Atlanta Falcons, leaving a vacated spot on the defensive line that appears to be going to the best player available among last year's depth, but ESPN suggests the idea of trading for Washington Commanders defensive end Chase Young in exchange for a third and fifth-round pick in next year's draft.

"If Young works out, Baltimore gets the value of his play and can consider re-signing him or letting him go for a compensatory pick (which it has a better shot of getting than the Commanders would if Washington kept Young this year)," ESPN writes. "But even if he doesn't work out, the Ravens would probably still get some sort of compensatory pick if Young signs elsewhere next March."

Young has shown he can be a force, winning Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2020 after recording 44 tackles with 10 tackles for loss and 7.5 sacks while forcing four fumbles.

However, he hasn't been able to stay healthy since. Appearing in just 12 games from 2021-22 for the Commanders, he tallied 31 tackles with only three tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks.
