Ravens Defense Provides 'Great Opportunity' for Commanders QB Sam Howell
The Baltimore Ravens are seeking a record-breaking 25th consecutive preseason victory this week when they travel across the DMV to face the Washington Commanders.
Before the two regional rivals face off, they have participated in joint practices this week in Baltimore. For second-year Commanders quarterback Sam Howell, it was his second time facing the Ravens, the first since last year's preseason. With his light experience against the Ravens, he knew what kind of defense he was going to face during the joint practices.
“They do a really good job over here in Baltimore, especially on the defensive side of the ball," Howell said. "It was a great opportunity for us as an offense to come out here and get better. Just try to show what we can do and if we do make mistakes to learn from those mistakes. I thought it was a good two days for us as a group. I was very pleased with the stuff we were able to put on tape so I feel good coming out of here.”
The Ravens are one of the top defenses in the league, so any opportunity to go against them is a test worth taking, especially before the season begins. It provides a strong litmus test for the Commanders as they approach the midway point of training camp.
Howell and the Commanders' offense is set to face the Ravens' defense on Monday night at FedEx Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 8:00 and will be broadcast live on ESPN.
