'I Love Our Guys!’ Why Baltimore Ravens Stood Pat at Trade Deadline

The NFL's trade deadline has passed without a single move being made by the Baltimore Ravens.
In this story:

The Baltimore Ravens are 6-2, which has them atop the AFC North standings and tied for the best record in the AFC as a whole, with only the Jacksonville Jaguars and Miami Dolphins matching them. It goes without saying that the Ravens feel good about where they are at through eight weeks.

However, that position was further solidified on Tuesday as the NFL's trade deadline passed by at 4 p.m. (EST) without a single move being made by the Ravens. The silence on the Ravens' part was despite teams like the Philadelphia Eagles (who have the best record in the NFL at 7-1) making a trade, along with the Ravens opponent on Sunday, the Seattle Seahawks.

“I love our guys. I think we have everything we need to be successful,” Ravens coach John Harbaugh said about the decision to stand pat at the deadline.

Although, that didn't mean the Ravens didn't try to make a deal before the deadline passed. As our own Mike Fisher reported, an NFL source told him prior to the deadline the Ravens were potentially eyeing a move to shore up their running back room.

Yet a deal never ended up materializing, meaning the Ravens will ride it out with what they have currently in Gus Edwards, Justice Hill, and Keaton Mitchell.

However, while many would've liked a blockbuster deal, a quiet deadline day may not be a bad thing for the Ravens as they appear to be legitimate Super Bowl contenders, with a roster that has been built through the NFL Draft and savviness when it comes to free agency and the trade block.

The Ravens will be in action next on Sunday as they host the 5-2 Seahawks, who are fresh off a fourth-quarter comeback win over the Cleveland Browns. Kickoff inside M&T Stadium is scheduled for 1 p.m. (EST).
