Harbaugh To Chargers? 'Fit' or 'Flirting' For Michigan Coach Eyeing NFL Move?
If Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh wants to "sell high'' in terms of his personal worth to a team? Now is that time.
Harbaugh now has plans to meet with the Los Angeles Chargers in the coming days, according to NFL Network. ... a continuation of the coach's perennial flirtation with a return to the pro ranks.
It makes a great deal of sense. Harbaugh, of course the brother of Baltimore Ravens coach John, once played for the Chargers and there are Harbaugh family ties in Southern California.
The Chargers have a young QB in Justin Herbert and a roster many think is on the verge of playoff-worthy. And Harbaugh could in theory be all-powerful in the running of the franchise.
But ... we have been here before. And what's often happened is that no matter the "fit,'' this coach "flirts'' with the NFL and then leverages that into a raise back in Ann Arbor.
Now, though, coming off a national championship at Michigan, Harbaugh has raised his stock about as high as it will go in college. He can become the highest-paid coach in the history of college football if he stays.

Or, having achieved great success at his alma mater, he could decide it's time to try the NFL again. He once led the 49ers to a Super Bowl, part of a track record that might have the Chargers joined by the Commanders and Raiders and other teams in pursuit of him.
It does seem Harbaugh will have his pick here. ... but history says Michigan could still end up being that pick.
