NFL Power Rankings: Baltimore Ravens Take Huge Leap Following Blowout Win Over Detroit Lions

The Baltimore Ravens have received plenty of praise around the NFL after their win on Sunday.

The Baltimore Ravens took care of business in a convincing way on Sunday afternoon, demolishing the Detroit Lions 38-6 at home. The NFL, as a result, has taken notice.

The Ravens took a huge leap in the league's power rankings released this week by CBS Sports, moving up six spots to No. 3 on the list. You can see their excerpt on Baltimore below.

With all the focus on Lamar Jackson, it's easy to overlook the defense. But that side of the ball has been really good as well.

Lamar Jackson has certainly earned his praise this season, especially after last week's performance against the Lions. The Ravens quarterback was responsible for 357 passing yards and three touchdowns in the blowout win, and he also contributed 36 yards and a score on the ground.

CBS is right, however: the Baltimore defense has been stellar as well.

Outside of only allowing six points in the fourth quarter on Sunday, the Ravens held Detroit to 337 yards of total offense, meaning that Lamar Jackson's passing numbers surpassed the Lions' team total by about 20 yards. Through seven games this season, the Ravens defense is surrendering an average of 13.9 points per game, more than enough for this potent offense to pull out a lot of wins as the year rolls on.

Can 5-2 Baltimore keep the momentum going? The Ravens will travel this Sunday to face the Arizona Cardinals in Glendale, and kickoff is slated for 4:25 p.m. ET on CBS.
