The Baltimore Ravens secured the services of Odell Beckham Jr. this week and the star receiver met the media on Thursday to address, among other things, his planned partnership with unsigned quarterback Lamar Jackson.

"Lamar, if you're watching, I'd love to get to work with you,'' OBJ said with a grin and a wave to cameras that telecast the press conference on live national TV. "When you think about the Ravens, you definitely think about Lamar."

But, he added, "Life is uncertain. Obviously, I would assume that it's going to work out. ... The goal is to come here and have that possibility with him.''

Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta said he hasn't spoken with Jackson in the last couple of days since signing Beckham, but the GM said the Ravens remain optimistic that the 2019 NFL MVP will end up again being Baltimore's starting quarterback this year.

"Lamar is in our plans," DeCosta said. "We're hopeful to still get a long-term deal.

Jackson is presently slated to make $32 million for one year on a franchise tag he has not signed. Beckham now has a one-year, $15 million deal with the Ravens, achieved in part because he met with Jackson recently in Miami to talk about hooking up together with the Super Bowl-hopeful Ravens.

DeCosta said positive things both about the star who was present and about the star who is not.

He said of Beckham that he's the right player "to take us to the next level.''

He said of Jackson, "He's the right player for this team."
