Odell Beckham Jr. & Todd Monken: New Ravens Coach Reveals OBJ 'Personality' Thoughts
Odell Beckham Jr. is inarguably a polarizing figure in the sports world - and we generally think he sort of enjoys that.
But to his credit, OBJ - now a member of the Baltimore Ravens - draws mostly rave reviews from the people who actually work alongside him. And that list of admirers includes new Baltimore Ravens offensive coordinator Todd Monken, who as it happens worked with Beckham during their time in Cleveland.
And now that Baltimore has beaten out the New York Jets and other potential suitors with its offer of a one-year, $15 million deal with another $3 million in possible incentives, what does Monken think of the reunion?
"I think he's tremendously skilled, and I like his personality," Monken told reporters this week.
With Beckham, 30, it is very much about "personality.'' But as pointed out by Monken, hired this offseason by head coach John Harbaugh to reload an offense hopefully keyed by unsigned QB Lamar Jackson, there is more to OBJ that his colorful nature and his controversial baggage.
"He likes to compete, I liked his skillset, liked his work ethic. He fought through an injury,'' Monken said, citing a Beckham history that includes the former Pro Bowler having missed all of last season while rehabbing the knee injury he suffered in the Rams' win in the Super Bowl. "Tremendous.”
