Ravens Free Agent Fit: Saquon Barkley or Derrick Henry?
The Baltimore Ravens - along with all 31 other teams - now have some extra salary cap space and could be in play for one or two top free agents this offseason.
ESPN's Jeremy Fowler suggests the Ravens might be interested in a big-name running back like Derrick Henry or Saquon Barkley.
Gus Edwards had a great year for the Ravens as he subbed for the injured J.K. Dobbins after Dobbins went down in Week 1. But Edwards is not a talent like Barkley or Henry, and one of the two premier free agents could help bolster not just the Baltimore rushing attack but also the entire Lamar Jackson offense.
Fowler appeared on Glenn Clark Radio to say Barkley might be a better fit in Baltimore than Henry.
"All teams make a list of potential FAs ... and Henry is in the mix," Fowler said. "The fit could be tough bc he does so much I-formation, and the Ravens run a lot out of the gun. Saquon would be more of a dangerous option for them. But Henry is still on the radar."
Barkley tallied 1,242 yards from scrimmage and 10 scores last year even though he missed three games and was playing behind maybe the worst offensive line in the NFL.
Will Salary Cap Increase Help Ravens Keep Top Free Agents?
The New York Giants are still the favorite to sign Barkley because of the franchise tag and other AFC teams have been linked to him in free agency more than the Ravens.
Barkley and Henry won't come cheap, but would be a great complement to Jackson.
