2 UDFA Rookies to Watch

  1. Shaq Davis (South Carolina State) - Wide Receiver; Big, Strong, Explosive, and a Playmaker. Why? Ask Deion Sanders how Davis destroyed Jackson State in the 2021 Celebration Bowl.  He reminds me of a hybrid Marques Colston and Deandre Hopkins.  His body control and leaping ability is "off the chain!"
  2. Anfernee Orji (Vanderbilt) - Linebacker; At 6-1 and 230 pounds, the Vandy defender was the 4th-ranked linebacker in terms of 'athleticism' at the 2023 NFL Combine. He posted 4.53 seconds in the 40-yard dash and a 38.5 vertical jump. Keep an eye on him to break through on special teams as a rookie.

Low Post-Draft Rankings

Peter King ranks the Saints at No. 24 in his latest power rankings:

"New Orleans. A bad division is there for the Saints to win—if old warhorses like Demario Davis, Cam Jordan, and Tyrann Mathieu can muster up one more charge and if Derek Carr can improve a team that was 22nd in scoring last year to the middle of the pack." Peter King

New Orleans Bring Back OL at Rookie Tryouts

OL Sage Doxtater, out of New Mexico State, recently played for the XFL's Houston Roughnecks. Last season, New Orleans had a brief stay on the roster after signing a 3-year, $2.56M deal. He agreed to a free-agent contract with the Saints on May 1.

At the XFL South Division Championship game in Houston, I noticed that several NFL teams and scouts were interested in the XFL players from the Roughnecks and Renegades.
