Saints TE Foster Moreau Participates at OTAs Two Months After Cancer Diagnosis
As the New Orleans Saints opened up Organized Team Activities (OTAs) on Tuesday, all eyes were on the offense. Not only was it newly-signed quarterback Derek Carr's first day of practice with the team, but it was also a big day for the potential return to the field for Carr's old friend, tight end Foster Moreau. Now that return is official.
Just over two months ago, Moreau was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma following a visit and physical with the Saints. Since then, he's begun treatment, which does not include radiation or chemotherapy, signed a contract with the team and now has made his return to the football field.
Sporting his No. 82, the number he wore locally during his Jesuit High School playing days, Moreau was not only present but looked to fully participate at the first OTA practice. He ran routes, catching passes from Carr and backup quarterback Jameis Winston.
He looked to move well and without limitations. Of course, OTAs are not the most active days, but to see him back in action this early is the stuff of wonders. A great story without strings attached can be hard to find in this day and age. But this story is one everyone can enjoy.
