Several Saints From Offseason Injury Lists Pass Physicals

Rookies Kendre Miller and Nick Saldiveri join two players who were placed on offseason injury lists to pass physicals on Monday.

Good news for the New Orleans Saints and their fans making waves on Monday afternoon. Per our own John Hendrix, four Saints players that were initially placed on offseason injury lists have passed their physicals. This opens up, and in someways even suggests, that they will be present to start training camp on Wednesday.

New Orleans Saints running back Kendre Miller (25) looks on during minicamp.

Saints rookies running back Kendre Miller, offensive lineman Nick Saldiveri and wide receiver Shaq Davis join second-year tight end Miller Foristall in passing their physicals after initially being placed on either the Non-Football Injury (NFI) and Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) lists.

Davis and Miller were both given the NFI designation signaling that their complications were not suffered during an NFL-sanctioned practice or event. Miller's was likely still tied to the MCL sprain he suffered while still with TCU. The knee injury kept him out of the Horned Frogs' national championship game and also kept him from testing throughout the offseason. Davis' complication has been thus far undisclosed. The anticipation is high for Miller to make his Saints debut.

Foristall and Saldiveri were both given the PUP designation which insinuates their injuries took place during events like rookie minicamp, OTAs, or mandatory minicamps. Things have mostly been quiet regarding Foristall's injury with the majority of the tight end room attention going to the addition of veteran Foster Moreau. But Saldiveri suffered a calf injury which was made apparent by head coach Dennis Allen during the fourth OTA practice of the offseason.

This should mean that the four players are likely to be spotted during the Saints' first training camp practice on Wednesday. Which has certainly been the indication thus far regarding both Miller and Saldiveri. This leaves wideout A.T. Perry and defensive back Anthony Johnson to ideally pass their physicals ahead of the first practice as well.
