You are never too young to be a Saints fan, but what if you’re still in the womb and the Saints are playing in the Superdome on Sunday? There’s only one thing to do, make your first appearance into the world just in time for the Saints’ Sunday kickoff… even without doctors. Let me introduce the Saints News Network/SI Saints Angel of the Week, 11-day-old Taysom named after number 7 of the New Orleans Saints, Taysom Hill!

Drew Brees returned this week to pass for almost 400 yards, 2 touchdowns and 1 interception against the Cardinals. Brees was not alone. Taysom Hill returned as well.  Hill was not injured but just underutilized during Brees’ five-week absence. Yes, while Taysom Hill lined up at FULLBACK for a 36-yard catch down the sideline, four-day-old Taysom was getting comfortable in Lakeview Regional Medical Center’s NICU with low blood sugar.

Taysom was born on October 23rd at 10:02 a.m. without nurses or doctors in the room. He was born just in time to see the Saints annihilate the Cardinals. Taysom’s father, Kevin had to yell into the hallway that the baby’s head was already out and the nurse Michelle made it into the delivery room just in time to catch him. Taysom’s mother Chastin’s Obstetrician rushed to the hospital on his bicycle.

The newborn is a very healthy baby with chubby cheeks and a double chin but has to wait until his bilirubin levels drop before he can go home. Taysom has 3 siblings, Brylie (5), Elias (4), and Alaric (2). Along with Taysom, his father Kevin is a long-time Saints fan.

After suffering a miscarriage in December 2018, this pregnancy was a very special surprise. God knew just what their family needed, and He delivered. The Hudsons chose not to identify the gender until after delivery.

Taysom’s siblings were expecting a little girl but instantly became attached to him. Kevin and Chastin discussed baby names during their pregnancy and Chastin liked the name Ezekiel, but Zeke for short. Kevin, being the fanatical Saints fan, resolved that Ezekiel sounded very much like a Cowboy.   It was Chastin’s mother that recommended the name Taysom after Taysom Hill. When Chastin asked Kevin about the name, he said absolutely! While Chastin doesn’t follow much football, Kevin is a die-hard fan and has been begging for tickets. Once they agreed on a name, Kevin could not wait for the baby’s delivery. He has been on a quest for Saints onesies for Taysom and we have a notion that the fleur-de-lis will dominate his wardrobe for years to come.

Congratulations Taysom, you are the Saints News Network/SI’s Saints Angel of the Week. While other infants are singing ‘Baby Shark’ you will continue the tradition of singing in concert with the Who Dat Nation, “WHO DAT, WHO DAT! WHO DAT SAY THEY GONNA BEAT THEM SAINTS, WHO DAT, WHO DAT!”
