Alvin Kamara Sets Saints Touchdown Record
With a 2-yard touchdown run in the second quarter of a 34-0 win over the New England Patriots, RB Alvin Kamara set a new record for the New Orleans Saints. The score was the 73rd of Kamara's seven-year career and made him the franchise's new career touchdown leader.
Kamara broke a tie with franchise great WR Marques Colston, who had 72 career touchdowns from 2006-2015. Colston's touchdowns came over 146 career games, while Kamara accomplished the feat in just 90 contests.
Colston and Kamara are still tied for the all-time franchise lead with 72 career offensive touchdowns. Kamara also had a kickoff return for a touchdown against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as a rookie in 2017. He has 50 career rushing scores along with 22 receiving touchdowns.
Kamara's 50th career rushing score also broke a tie with RB Deuce McAllister for second place in franchise history. He's now just two back of tying RB Mark Ingram for the career franchise record of 52 rushing touchdowns.
The New Orleans victory at New England improved their record to 3-2 on the season. Kamara rushed for 80 yards on 22 carries and added three receptions for 17 yards in the win.
