Former Saints safety and special teams standout Chris Banjo is retiring from the NFL. News of his retirement had previously leaked, but Banjo officially announced the news on his social media account on Sunday morning, which is his birthday.

Banjo was with the Saints from 2016-2018, being in the league since 2013 as an undrafted free agent. He had three career interceptions, which came with New Orleans in 2017 and 2018. Banjo had two picks against the Eagles in a 48-7 rout in 2018, and the other came on Thanksgiving against the Falcons in 2017.

Banjo spent time with the Packers (2013-2016) and Cardinals (2019-2022), and is joining Sean Payton in Denver as an assistant special teams coach. Payton has assembled quite the staff for the Broncos, which have a lot of former Saints ties.
