Dennis Allen Will Be Back As Saints Head Coach
Well, if you needed more concrete or definitive proof other than the various reports that have been out there for the last month, then you got it on Wednesday afternoon. Dennis Allen will be returning as the Saints head coach in 2024, as general manager Mickey Loomis confirmed during his end of the season press conference.
When we met with Allen just over a week ago, he told us that his expectation was the return as the head coach. Allen also made some coaching changes on Tuesday, which included the dismissal of offensive coordinator Pete Carmichael. Two other assistants, wide receivers coach Kodi Burns and senior offensive assistant Bob Bicknell were also let go, and running backs coach Joel Thomas left for the Giants to serve in that same capacity.
Dennis Allen End of Season Press Conference Takeaways
It's a must-win and must-produce season for Allen as he enters 2024. To stick around, he's going to need to get New Orleans into the postseason, and obviously a division title would help secure that. It was quite disappointing to see the team come up so short in a year where they thought they had the missing pieces figured out. Facing a tougher schedule, it's going to take a lot of good coaching to win some of those games and get the Saints back where the standard needs to be.
