Dennis Allen Believed To Be Safe Regardless Of Week 18 Outcome For Saints

Add another vote of confidence for Dennis Allen returning as the Saints head coach in 2024.
In this story:

For weeks, we've heard nothing but a vote of confidence in Dennis Allen returning as the Saints head coach for 2024. Well, we can add one more drop in the bucket for it from Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio. His Sunday morning report reinforces that Allen should be safe and return regardless of what happens against the Falcons in the regular season finale.

Florio wrote, "The Saints are confident that their fortunes will improve with enhancements to the roster, along with some cultural tweaks. The feeling is that too much blame is being placed on Allen and quarterback Derek Carr for the team’s struggles in 2023, and that Allen and Carr could be key components of a resurgence in 2024."

Again, this echoes everything Saints News Network has been told and understands regarding the coaching situation. Offensive staff changes are expected to be heavily evaluated and could look very different, however.

The players have responded fairly well to Allen's coaching since he took over for Sean Payton, but something Florio pointed out regarding the cultural tweaks are intriguing. The locker room has been strong all season, and it was last year even when the team seemingly hit rock bottom, but some of the players not in the building and on the field could be what is hinted at.
