Mission. Build an NFL Quarterback. Characteristics - A True Leader, Consistent, Dependable, Record-setter, Family Man, Servant Mentality, and highly important to the NFL team, city, fanbase and community's success. The Quarterback will be named Drew Brees. In fact, it is Drew Brees.

Brees is arguably THE MAN designed for the job in New Orleans. Brees has not played a meaningful contact game since losing to the Los Angeles Rams in the NFC Championship game on January 20, 2019, in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. Brees' last play was in overtime against the Rams when Rams LB Fowler struck his arm and caused the interception to Johnson. Fast forward to August 24, 2019. Brees enters the Saints preseason contest versus the New York Jets. New Orleans receives the football first and Brees promptly directs an eight-play, seventy-two-yard drive which ended in a Brees to Michael Thomas touchdown for 19 yards. Brees took only 3:08 minutes to successfully coordinate the one and possibly his only appearance of the preseason. Brees' stats, 4/6 completions, 68 yards, 1 TD, and a QB rating of 144.4.

Michael Thomas Flexes after TD

The Saints struggled with consistency with Teddy Bridgewater and Taysom Hill at quarterback. However, the offense did produce 26 points and 405 yards on Saturday night inside of MetLife Stadium. New Orleans third-down efficiency was at 42% but again struggled in the redzone to converting 1 of 4 touchdowns at 25% efficiency. The team controlled the time of possession clock at 35:26 minutes to the Jets'24:24 minutes.

Saints Offensive Performance

This is his view of Brees from the Jets' preseason game:

On if Brees comes to him asking for more series in order to make things perfect on offense:

No, I think it’s different for players like him who have had the experience but are getting plenty of reps during the week. 12-13 years ago, a lot of it was dependent on our team and I think that you have to go by what you see in practice and then as a coach, what you feel and he’s looked sharp during the week at practice, he looked sharp tonight.

In the late '70s and early '80s in New Orleans, the older guys I grew-up within the 7th Ward would say "If you are The Man, you must beat The Man" when we played street football. This means CONTROL YOUR DESTINY and NOT TAKING ANY L's (Losses) no matter how older, bigger, stronger or faster the opponent. YOU must always be better than anyone. Drew Brees is in control in New Orleans. The team's destiny lies with him in 2019. The Saints wins will directly be a result of Brees' performances. Thus, he knows he must be THE MAN for this team. I believe His team knows this. The many a Saints Fan knows this. Sean Payton knows this as a fact. It's time NFL fans will witness it again in 2019.

For Drew Brees, he battles each week is to continually prove, "HE'S THE MAN".
