On Wednesday, former New Orleans Saints quarterback Trevor Siemian signed a one-year contract with the Cincinnati Bengals. Specific terms of the deal were not disclosed.  Siemian, 31, will compete with Jake Browning to backup Joe Burrow after the Bengals' former three-year No. 2 quarterback Brandon Allen signed with the San Francisco 49ers.  The NFL Network's James Palmer tweeted, "Siemian visited Cincy before the draft and also has a really good relationship with OC Brian Callahan from their time in Denver together."

During the 2021 season, Trevor Siemian was Jameis Winston's backup signal-caller.  On October 31, 2021, Winston suffered an ACL injury, leading to Siemian playing six games.  He started four of those games, resulting in losses.   However, Siemian managed to have two victories against Tampa Bay and Atlanta, and both games were in relief of Winston and Hill, who faced injuries.

In New Orleans, Siemian completed 108/188 passing attempts resulting in a 57.4% completion rate, totaling 1,154 yards, 11 touchdowns, and three interceptions, resulting in an 88.4 quarterback rating.

Siemian is joining the Bengals as his seventh team since entering the league in 2015.  The journeyman signal-caller has been on the rosters of the Broncos, Vikings, Jets, Titans, Saints, Bears, and now the Bengals.  Throughout his six NFL seasons, he has completed 58.9% of his passes for 7,027 yards, 42 touchdowns, and 28 interceptions, earning an 81.1 quarterback rating.

New Orleans drafted seven players in the 2023 NFL Draft and signed eleven undrafted free agents.  Fresno State quarterback Jake Haener will join the team's quarterback unit with starter Derek Carr and veteran backup Jameis Winston.  The Saints' rookie mini-camp will start on May 12-15 for the draftees, UDFAs, and additional rookies trying out for the club.
