Important NFL Dates For The New Orleans Saints March Calendar

A look at what's to come in the month of March across the NFL, which will undoubtedly impact the Saints.

We're one month closer to Saints football returning. After entering March, which is fairly important across the NFL, we're that much closer to seeing the black and gold back in action. The new league year will be here soon enough, which means free agency opens. While we don't expect New Orleans to be big players, that's only a fraction of what is going down this month. Here's some of the other dates that are of importance for the league.

Important Dates On Saints Calendar for March

  • Feb. 27-Mar. 4: NFL Scouting Combine, Lucas Oil Stadium, Indianapolis
  • Mar. 5: Prior to 4:00 p.m. ET, deadline for clubs to designate Franchise or Transition Players.
  • Mar. 6: Northwestern Pro Day
  • Mar. 7: Purdue Pro Day
  • Mar. 12: Oregon Pro Day
  • Mar. 13: Georgia Pro Day
  • Mar. 11-13: Clubs are permitted to contact, and enter into contract negotiations with, the certified agents of players who will become Unrestricted Free Agents upon the expiration of their 2023 player contracts at 4:00 p.m. ET on March 13. However, a contract cannot be executed with a new club until 4:00 p.m. ET on March 13. During the above two-day negotiating period, a prospective UFA who is not represented by an NFLPA Certified Contract Advisor is permitted to communicate directly with a new club’s front office officials (excluding the head coach and other members of the club’s coaching staff) regarding contract negotiations.
  • Mar. 13: The 2024 League Year and Free Agency period begin at 4:00 p.m. ET. Simultaneously, the trading period for 2024 begins after expiration of all 2023 contracts.
  • Mar. 18: Iowa Pro Day

  • Mar. 20: Alabama, USC Pro Day
  • Mar. 21: Notre Dame Pro Day
  • Mar. 22: Michigan Pro Day
  • Mar. 24-27: Annual League Meeting, Orlando, Florida

  • Mar. 27-30: Big 12 Pro Day
  • Mar. 29: Maryland Pro Day
  • Mar. 30: UFL Season kicks off
