Jameis Winston in at Saints Quarterback
MINNEAPOLIS -- The New Orleans Saints are dealign with mounting concerns in a tough game against the Minnesota Vikings and not the least of which is an apparent injury to starting quarterback Derek Carr.
On a 15-yard completion to wide receiver Chris Olave, Carr sustained a hard hit as he was stepping up in the pocket. The hit left the veteran passer laying on the field for several minutes while being checked out the Saints' medical staff. He eventually stood up and walked off the field under his own power and went into the injury tent.
After time in the tent, Carr was carted off to the locker room without his helmet on. Which likely indicates his day is done.
The severity of his injury is currently unknown. In his stead, the team's former starting quarterback James Winston has assumed the role. The Saints went on to finish the drive with their first touchdown of the day on a 14-yard completion from Winston to Olave.
As this story is developing, we will keep you up to date on Carr, Winston and the team's performance here in Minneapolis.
Update: Carr has officially been ruled out for the remainder of today's game with a right shoulder injury and concussion.
