Report: Jameis Winston Won't Be Traded to Vikings, Team Acquires Dobbs
Jameis Winston suffered an ACL injury during a game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers two years ago today. It would have been an odd omen if the Saints signal-caller was sent packing. However, despite recent rumors about his future with the New Orleans Saints, it appears Winston will not be traded to the Minnesota Vikings.
Instead, the Vikings acquired quarterback Josh Dobbs from Arizona, as reported by NFL Network's Tom Pelissero and Ian Rapoport. Kirk Cousins will be sidelined for the rest of the season after tearing his Achilles in a 24-10 win against Green Bay.
Fans of the New Orleans Saints have been anxiously awaiting news about the future of Jameis Winston amid ongoing rumors. However, for the meantime, the former overall draft pick will remain in New Orleans as Derek Carr's backup — at least for now. The Saints News Network made efforts to contact Winston's representatives regarding these rumors. His camp did not respond with an official comment.
National Football Leagues trades must be finalized and approved by the league at 4 PM ET.
