Marcus Maye Gets Six-Month Probation From 2021 DUI
The legal proceedings are now over for Saints safety Marcus Maye from a February 2021 DUI arrest in Florida, according to ESPN's Katherine Terrell.
Per Terrell's report, Maye received six months of probation after accepting a plea deal. Maye will have his drivers' license suspended for six months, with both penalties concluding on Feb. 21, 2024. Maye will also have to serve 50 hours of community service, but can reportedly buy them out.
Now that things are settled legally, we'll have to see what happens with his football outlook. The NFL will naturally conduct their investigation and act on things in accordance with the league's personal conduct policy. A DUI typically carries a three-game suspension, something that former receiver Deonte Harty (Harris) experience. He appealed the suspension, but it was upheld.
Maye is a starter in the Saints secondary alongside Tyrann Mathieu, and is expected to have a big season. If he does miss time, then rookie Jordan Howden could be a viable option to take his place. However, we have to wait on the league.
