Mickey Loomis Gives Michael Thomas Update
New Orleans Saints general manager Mickey Loomis gave an update on wide receiver Michael Thomas' status at the Chateau Country Club for the 30th Annual Saints Hall of Fame Celebrity Golf Classic on Monday, May 15. John Hendrix reports that a reporter asked if Thomas could be "that 80 to 90 catch guy?" Absolutely he can be, Loomis responded. "Yeah, absolutely. He can be. Just got to get healthy. He's worked so hard at that over the last two, three years. Look, the results haven't been as good as what we had all hoped, but it's not because of a lack of effort or desire by him, that's for sure."
Thomas had support hardware added to his foot during a surgical procedure. Earlier last week, head coach Dennis Allen told reporters that the hardware had been removed at the Saints rookie minicamp. Loomis added, "I think everything is going according to plan so far. And I feel very positive about it."
Last season, Thomas played three games for New Orleans in 2022 before being placed on injured reserve for a toe injury. He caught 16 passes for 171 yards and three touchdowns in 2022.
The 2019 Offensive Player of the Year and the Saints organization hope Thomas returns healthy to provide a necessary dynamic missing for the team's offense since the record-breaking season.
