New Orleans Saints Reportedly Hosting Recently Released Eagles Cornerback

Let the free agent visits commence for the Saints, as we have learned about our first one ahead of the new league year.
In this story:

The New Orleans Saints figure to be an intriguing team to follow when free agency opens. As always, they've put in a lot of work to get under the cap, and they're going to bring in new talent in. Now, they're not expected to play in the top-tier area, but they're going to hopefully improve the roster. One visit that has been reported ahead of things is that the team will host cornerback Avonte Maddox on a visit, according to NewOrleans.Football's Nick Underhill.

The Eagles recently released Maddox, who can play the slot and outside. Injuries have led to him appearing in just 13 games over the past two seasons. He's a former fourth-rounder from the 2018 draft. New Orleans currently has Alontae Taylor in the slot, but they've also not ruled out him returning to the outside, which could depend on what happens with Marshon Lattimore. Ugo Amadi, who is also a free agent, saw time their last season as well.

Saints Free Agency Tracker, Rumors and News For New NFL Season

The NFL's 'Legal Tampering' period is upon us, which obviously is facade these days. In a nutshell, it's a two-day window that allows teams to speak directly to agents to negotiate deals ahead of the start of the new league year (Mar. 13 at 3 p.m. CT). It officially opens on Monday at 11 a.m. CT.
