Report: Saints RB Alvin Kamara Indicted
New Orleans Saints RB Alvin Kamara has been indicted by a Las Vegas grand jury, according to David Charns of Fox 8 News.
Kamara and three others received the indictment on charges of battery resulting in substantial bodily harm and conspiracy to commit battery. The charges stem from alleged beating in a Las Vegas nightclub in February 2022 on NFL Pro Bowl weekend.
Kamara, 27, was taken into custody without incident following the 2022 Pro Bowl and subsequently released. Several hearings since have been postponed and Kamara has not yet been punished by the NFL.
This indictment now means that the case will bypass Las Vegas Justice Court and move into Nevada District Court. A judge set a hearing for the incident for March 2.
The accuser, Darnell Green, has also filed a civil suit in Louisiana against Kamara stemming from the Las Vegas incident.
NFL officials have not yet commented on the incident or charges. The league usually waits to hand down disciplinary action until the legal process is concluded. Typically, such actions result in a six-game suspension from the NFL for violation of the league's personal conduct policy.
Alvin Kamara has been with the New Orleans Saints for all six of his NFL seasons. He signed a five-year extension with the team in 2020 that has him under contract through the 2025 campaign.
Kamara is first in franchise history for receptions and receiving yards by a running back. He's also tied with WR Marques Colston for the franchise lead in total touchdowns (72), is second of the franchise's all-time rushing touchdown list, and third in career rushing yardage.
