New Orleans Saints kicker Blake Grupe's 31-yard game-winning kick against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 1 of the NFL preseason was impressive, but his hilarious before-and-after story from the first day stole the show.

Here's the setup. Blake Grupe is a rookie kicker for the Saints, standing at 5 feet 7 inches and weighing 157 pounds on a humid afternoon in New Orleans. It's easy to mistake the baby-faced player for a fan or personnel of the Saints team. Kudos to the security members at Caesars Superdome for performing their duties before and after Grupe wore his No. 19 jersey and helped the team win 26-24 against the Chiefs. Grupe shared a funny incident he had with the security team on Twitter.

Step 1: get questioned walking onto the field pregame for not having credentials.

Step 2: hit a game-winner.

Step 3: get stopped by security thinking I was a fan when trying to walk out the player exit

Stay humble. Thankful. Great team win! @Saints #WHODAT

Blake Grupe, 24, has been a pleasant surprise in camp for the Saints' special teams unit. He has a strong leg and has demonstrated excellent accuracy thus far in his competition with veteran placekicker Wil Lutz. Lutz was injured in 2021 and confessed after returning from his year, 2022 was mentally challenging for his confidence. He dropped off from making 82.1% of his kicks in 2021 to just 74.2% in 2022. Lutz is having a good training camp, but could there still be an opportunity for Dennis Allen to consider Grupe as an option? Or, if Grupe has a strong leg and continues to perform well in camp. It bodes well for him to translate into a great NFL audition tape for the former Irish kicker. Still, it won't be the last we'll hear Grupe's name this preseason for New Orleans.
